Kitchen Renovation With Open Hearth Room
An Open, Central Iowa Remodel Designed For Entertainment
This inviting space was designed for a busy family that loves to entertain. Creating a cozy and welcoming atmosphere was a high priority so guests would feel comfortable and “at home” when visiting.
To create a warm environment, Grand Homes & Renovations added recessed lighting throughout the family room, which heavily complements the stone fireplace as the focal point of the entire space. This wing of the house features incredible details, such as the glass backsplash in the kitchen, the vibrant oak floors, and a fireplace box. All of which were repurposed from recycled materials, which is recommended by Grand Homes to save on costs in a renovation.
Now, let’s dive into the beautiful, natural stone fireplace. This repurposed piece is made up of lighter colors to maintain brightness and a natural flow throughout the room. On one side, there’s a TV lounge area with a cushy sectional, a square ottoman, and two chairs, all differing in color and texture, but following a neutral, warm palette. On the opposite side, two rich, leather swivel chairs are placed near the cozy fireplace, the perfect place to sip your morning coffee or enjoy a conversation.
Grand Homes & Renovations upgraded the previous standard-looking kitchen with short, white cabinets to taller, cherry cabinets and granite countertops. Grand Homes also swapped an ineffective built-in pantry for a double oven, built-in microwave, and cooktop, and still had space for a smaller pantry. Finally, the counter peninsula was elongated to create a functional workstation and family dinner area.
This entire renovation was done with functionality and space in mind. There was intention behind every update, and Grand Homes & Renovations made sure that each addition was efficient for their busy lifestyle.
