Family Room and Master Suite Renovation in Central Iowan Home

When we began this home’s renovation, we recognized a solid foundation of elements to work with. We gave the stunning curved staircase some much-needed updates. While the staircase was already a beautiful piece, painting it makes it attention-grabbing as you enter the home, and it leads you right into the open living room.

You can see that a lot of different colors are used throughout the space. Dark rugs, brown stairs, white trim and built-ins, as well as pops of blues and greens. The large window in the living room and the lighter-colored elements allowed us to incorporate darker features in a balanced way. This integrated the homeowner’s personal style without being overwhelming. 

As you continue through the house, you’ll find another staircase, this time carpeted, that leads to a spacious master bedroom. We removed an unused sunroom to create more space in the master suite. You can see that there is now room for an entire sectional, plus more! We continued with the brown and blue color scheme in this room, which was complemented nicely by the many windows and white blinds surrounding the bed.
