A Whole House Sanctuary Remodel in Des Moines, IA

This modern, yet stylish home was remodeled to fit this household’s needs and hobbies. From a sophisticated exterior including stone and wood beams, to a large indoor rec room and basketball court. At Grand Homes & Renovations, we wanted to balance this family’s interests while keeping a chic look to the entire home. Beyond the exterior, we utilized bright white and cream colors all throughout the home, adding a touch of color to bring in some natural vibrancy. In the kitchen, we used a teal blue color to highlight specific decor and cabinetry, along with mixing textures in the furniture, walls and flooring. With the same teal, we created a small nook for storage and a wine fridge, perfect for hosting. The main living room is rich with soft colors and textures such as gray and cream. We incorporated the same dark wood in this area for a cozy feeling, as well as similar blues for accent.

It’s not every day you see a home with an indoor recreation room and basketball court. We had a lot of fun creating a recreation space for this family to enjoy. With vaulted wood ceilings and a stone fireplace, comfortable furniture was added to create an area of relaxation along the spacious windows. Beyond it, we added a built-in bar and fridge to host game nights, watch parties, and more. For the basketball court, we kept the entire room spacious and simple. Overhead lighting was added to place basketball into the evenings, with large ceiling fans to ensure optimal air circulation.
