I grew up in rural Polk County, youngest in a family of five children, but took the persona of the middle child. I attended Carlisle Community Schools and later graduated from Central College, with a degree in History and emphasis in Art History. While attending college, I participated in basketball and balanced work at a local commericial and residential home builder. After graduating, I worked at Living History Farms following my degree in history and then began full time in the construction business as a trim carpenter. I married my wife Junifer in 1996 and now have 2 incredible boys, Truman and Keaton. I continued to work full time with the same construction contractor where I worked managing residential and commercial building projects and directing a large-scale carpentry crew until April 2007.

I enjoy spending time with my family, running as part of team “Grand Homes”, playing the piano, cooking & playing basketball. My accomplishments include:

  • Trimming homes for Home Shows
  • Work featured in Meredith publications
  • Work featured in Des Moines’ Home Style and The Des Moines Register
  • Active member of the Remodelor’s Council of Greater Des Moines

I grew up in rural Warren county, the youngest of two children. I attended Carlisle and Indianola Community Schools and later graduated from Simpson College with a degree in communications and an emphasis in political science. While attending college, I participated in music and politics. After graduating from Simpson, I worked for a political fundraising firm before beginning my career in the construction industry. I then went to work for a local commericial and residential home builder as the lead kitchen designer and director of custom cabinetry sales for 8 years. I married my husband Tim in 2000 and in 2007 we adopted our son Jude from Vietnam. I have gained experience guiding customers through the numerous and sometimes complicated choices they face when it comes to remodeling and building. I also maintain excellent relationships with the areas finest sub-contractors and work closely with them on responsibilities and schedules.

I enjoy spending time with my family, raising money for my son’s Social Welfare Center through Gift of Love, running as part of team “Grand Homes”, cooking, playing the piano and singing. My accomplishments include:

  • Designing national award winning kitchens
  • Designed for Des Moines Home Shows
  • Work featured in Meredith publications
  • Chair Person for the 2006 Tour of Remodeled Homes
  • Associate Remodelor of the Year in 2005
  • Quoted in Woman’s Day Kitchen & Baths magazine
  • Kitchen Designer for the 2004 Des Moines Symphony Show House

Grand Homes did a great job on our project. It was completed professionally, on budget, and on time. They listened to what we wanted and worked with us as a partner to achieve our goals. We were very satisfied with the end result. I would highly recommend Grand Homes for any type of home renovation project or new construction.
